ORLANDO, Fla. – SunRail said it will suspend its commuter rail service starting Wednesday ahead of the expected arrival of Tropical Storm Nicole.

SunRail will use the next day or so to secure the train fleet, and take down or secure all of the railroad crossings across the trains’ route.

No word on when the service will start up again.

After the storm passes, crews will go out and inspect every mile of the rail corridor for damage or debris. If any debris is found within 4 feet of the tracks it must be cleared before service can be restored.

During Hurricane Ian, part of the track was damaged and a tree fell on the tracks in Osceola County, requiring weeks of repair before SunRail service could be restored in that area.
