VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – Stronger winds picked up in Volusia County Thursday morning after Nicole made landfall just south of Vero Beach.
In Daytona Beach Shores, the wind is pushing water from the ocean down streets, according to News 6′s Treasure Roberts.

News 6 crews reported seeing power transformers exploding as the storm picked up steam coming ashore.

In New Smyrna Beach, News 6′s Erik Sandoval reported that wind made the rainfall painful as it struck bare skin.
Flagler, Volusia and Brevard counties are expected to see winds reaching 50 to 80 mph with 4 to 8 inches of rain.
The storm is also causing the water to rise in the Halifax and Indian rivers. The Halifax is already jumping its banks in some areas.
High winds from Nicole have forced the closure of all bridges in Volusia County.
