Fatal wreck happened in Flagler County

BUNNELL, Fla. – A 51-year-old man hanging onto an open door of a pickup truck was killed Thursday afternoon when a 14-year-old Bunnell boy lost control of the vehicle and crashed, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The fatal wreck happened around 4:15 p.m. on Clove Avenue at Rosewood Street near Bunnell in Flagler County.

Troopers said the teen was driving the pickup west along Clove Avenue while the man, of Budd Lake, N.J., was hanging onto the open driver’s door and standing on the truck’s running boards.

The FHP said the teen lost control of the pickup and traveled onto the north shoulder of Clove Avenue, and the man was ejected from the running boards.
