DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Daytona Beach police announced the arrests of 11 people and the seizure of hundreds of grams of narcotics Friday as a result of their latest operation aiming to curb violence in the city.
Daytona Beach police Chief Jakari Young said the department seized a total of approximately 225 grams of suspected crack-cocaine, 200 grams of suspected fentanyl and 75 grams of suspected meth during “Operation One By One.”

“The operation comes as a direct response to the alarming rise in violent incidents, which we’ve discovered to have a clear connection with narcotic sales within our city,” Young said at a news conference on Friday. “(It) was specifically named to send a strong message to the poison peddlers in the Daytona Beach area that one by one, they will be apprehended.”

Young added the investigation was designed “to target and dismantle the criminal networks responsible for peddling drugs and inflicting violence on our streets,” neutralizing the influence of those responsible. As of the news briefing, Jakari said about 11 arrests had been made, but more are expected.
“I want to emphasize that this operation is not just about making arrests. It’s about sending a strong message to those who believe they can profit off of the misery of addiction and inflict harm on innocent lives. It’s about reclaiming our streets and ensuring a safer community for all of us,” the police chief said. “While we recognize the importance of addressing the root causes of crime in our city, Operation One by One represents a crucial step toward immediate and decisive action.”
This comes as Daytona Beach officials committed to building a police substation and adding more cameras throughout the city as violence in the area grows.
