Fire rips through Marion County fire home

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A home was badly damaged by fire on Saturday evening in Dunnellon, according to Marion County Fire Rescue.

Fire officials said they responded to the 19400 block of SW 82d Place Road at 8:51 p.m. after a 911 caller reported the home was on fire with flames through the roof and people were possibly trapped.

According to a news release, when crew arrived on scene, the home was 70% involved in flames.

After an aggressive interior attack on the fire, firefighters pivoted to a defensive fight, officials said.

According to the release, the fire was under control at 9:29 p.m. and no injuries were reported to firefighters or anyone else on the scene.

The home owner was not home at the time of the fire, fire officials said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
