“I just wanted to go up to her and say, ‘Come home with me.’ It’s scary,” neighbor Mary Wilson reacted.
Another neighbor, Mike Citak, said he loaded his handgun in order to protect himself as authorities searched the neighborhood for Speer.
The sheriff’s office said Speer was found at a motel he was staying at.
Back in custody, records show this is Speer’s 10th time behind bars at the Brevard County jail.
Some of those arrests over the last 13 years include domestic violence.
“I would see that guy in his driveway working on his souped-up car never thinking he could have done something like this,” Wilson said.
The sheriff’s office did not confirm how many times it says Speer stabbed his girlfriend.
Despite all the evidence markers and blood that could be seen in the driveway, the sheriff’s office said the victim will survive.
Wilson hopes he doesn’t get out of jail this time.
She said he hopes he stays behind bars, “forever.”
