MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A Marion County Fire Captain is in the hospital after being injured Wednesday while battling a mobile home fire in Silver Springs.

The fire, which started in the kitchen, happened in the 18000 block of NE 20th place before 5 p.m., according to fire rescue officials.

He is scheduled to have the first in a series of surgeries starting Friday. A spokesperson said he was burned on his upper torso.
