PALM BAY, Fla. – The husband of a woman police said was killed in a possible hit-and-run grieved and shared what investigators told him about the crash that took the life of Darlene Stanley.
Police said Stanley was struck at 9:50 Monday night at Babcock Street and San Soving Street. The intersection is a short walking distance from the Stanley home.
Wayne Stanley said he and his wife were together for 25 years.
“We had our ups and downs, but she was always there for me,” the husband said.

Stanley said he believed his wife left the house Monday night to visit a friend.
“I was watching the football game and I thought she was going to bed, but she must have contacted someone else and was going to meet up with a friend or something,” he said.
Stanley also told News 6 reporter James Sparvero that the couple had just put their cat of 18 years to sleep.
“I cried about that, but I’ve never cried this much in my life,” he said.
A police spokesperson Wednesday said the investigation is open and actively being worked.
Stanley said police told him one of the cars that drove by the intersection Monday night had a camera that recorded his wife in the middle of the road.
“So they suspect that she had already been hit by another vehicle,” he said. “That’s why she was laying in the middle of the road.”
