2 hospitalized, power outage reported after fiery crash with transformer in Seminole County

Crash happened near Seminola Boulevard and Geneva Legacy Lane

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – Two people were taken to the hospital on Monday evening after a fiery vehicle crash in Casselberry, according to the Seminole County Fire Department.

In a release, fire officials told News 6 that the crash involved two vehicles and a transformer, taking place around 6:24 p.m. near Seminola Boulevard and Geneva Legacy Lane.

Each vehicle had one occupant inside, and both were taken to the hospital afterward, fire officials added.

The release shows that “specialized additives” were used to extinguish the fire due to it being an “energized source.”

In addition, the SCFD announced that there was a resulting power outage nearby, though crews with Duke Energy were on the scene.

As of 8:20 p.m., Duke Energy’s website listed over 250 outages in the area near where the crash took place.

A few hours later around 11:20 p.m., the website no longer listed any outages.
