That area of Haiti has come under extreme violence in recent weeks as violent gangs have rampaged through the city, with gang leaders demanding the resignation of Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry.
In response to the spike in violence, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis ordered 250 law enforcement officers and soldiers to the Florida Keys ahead of what his office called the “potential of invasion.”
This isn’t the first time that Mills has participated in rescue missions abroad. Back in October, his office announced that he rescued 32 Americans from Israel following an attack by Hamas terrorists.

Mills won his U.S. House District 7 race against Karen Greene during the 2022 general elections. The district now represents Seminole County and southeastern Volusia County after Florida lawmakers voted to redraw the district.
News 6 has reached out to Mills’ office for additional information on the rescue and is awaiting a response.
