2 injured in boat collision on St. Johns River near Sanford

Crews respond to Cameron Wight Park after crash

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – Two boats carrying eight people were involved in a crash Sunday on the St. Johns River in Seminole County, officials said.

According to fire officials, crews responded around 6:35 p.m. to Cameron Wight Park, about 5 miles east of U.S. 17-92 on State Road 46 near the Lake Jesup Bridge after the crash.

One person was sent to the hospital as a trauma alert and another was injured when the boats collided, according to the Seminole County Fire Department. Officials said the victims were a man and a woman, but no other information was released on their condition.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission will investigate the crash.

“There is no further information available at this time,” the FWC said.
