Sentencing delayed in Seminole County for woman convicted of DUI manslaughter crash that killed toddler

Sentencing for Shona Wallace has been scheduled for May 6

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – Sentencing has been delayed for a woman convicted of driving under the influence and killing a toddler.

During a hearing Monday, the judge said Shona Wallace, 53, has been in the hospital since April 4 and ordered a continuance in the case.

In March, Wallace was convicted on counts of DUI manslaughter, vehicular homicide and DUI causing serious bodily injury.

The crash happened in June 2019 on Maitland Boulevard at Eden Park Road in Altamonte Springs.

Police said Wallace drove on a sidewalk and hit a family of three who were on a bicycle ride. The impact killed 17-month-old Adalyn Zisa and left her father with a traumatic brain injury.

A toxicology report found Wallace had fentanyl in her system the night of the crash.

During Monday’s hearing, Adalyn’s mother was in the courtroom and surrounded by family and friends.

“We are extremely disappointed that we are not able to put this behind us at this point,” Shannon Zisa said. “It’s time for (Wallace) to not be a part of my life anymore.”

Zisa said she has been leaning on the support of her loved ones, while also helping mothers through her Acts for Adalyn organization.

“I have made connections with so many lost moms and they are a part of my survival every day,” Zisa said.

Wallace faces up to 50 years in prison on her four counts.

Sentencing has been scheduled for May 6 at 9 a.m.
