“Homeowners at this location reported awakening to an unknown male breaking into their residence and abducting their pet dog (a yellow Lab). The homeowners advised the male claimed he had walked from South Daytona looking for his stolen dog (a black pit bull),” the department wrote on Facebook.

When police responded, officers spotted Marenah walking near the home. When asked for his name, police said Marenah gave another name and officers learned he had an open warrant out of Volusia County for reckless driving.

He was arrested and faces charges of burglary of an occupied dwelling and providing a false name to law enforcement.
