SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – During a news conference on Monday, Seminole County Sheriff Dennis Lemma released surveillance video inside Cabana Live showing the moments gunfire rang out through the restaurant and bar.
According to the arrest report, two people began fighting when an uninvolved person, later identified as 16-year-old Christopher Bouie, turned around an opened fire.
“Clearly, any person who looks at this looks like the physical altercation and the shooting are probably connected,” Lemma said. “But we’ll work to put those those dots together but we know of no relationship right now. Between Bouie the people who are wrestling around physically fighting on the ground, or the other person would appears to be returning fire on the other side of the room.”
Lemma said the gun Bouie had was legally purchased in Miami back in 2018.

“Where the gun has been at for the past 6 years, we don’t know, but we do know the gun is not registered as stolen and of course, the backstory of how Christopher Bouie got in possession of that firearm is something that we’re going to look at as this investigation continues,” Lemma said.
Lemma said they are also looking for a second person who fired their gun but for unknown reasons.
“That unknown person could absolutely be justified under Florida self-defense laws to pull out a gun and return fire if somebody is firing at them,” Lemma said. “We just don’t know the circumstances. Until we can find that person talk to him.”
Lemma estimates there were 200 people at the labled ‘Nobody Leaves Sober Pool Party’ on Saturday and said there were 10 armed security guards there. However, Lemma said the promoters hosting the event, did not have the proper permitting.
Lemma confirmed on Monday that Tank Dell, a wide receiver for the Houston Texans, was also injured in the shooting. Dell attended high school in Daytona Beach.
“I don’t know that we can say if it were not for the permitting process, this would have never happened but I know that there’s rules established for a reason,” Lemma said. “I think that rules need to be followed. So I think that the county will be following up and kind of looking at that as well.”
Lemma also praised the security guard who tackled Bouie shortly after the gunfire began.
“I mean, he literally tackled this guy from behind, brought him to the ground and delivered him to us in handcuffs,” Lemma said.
