“A dog park has consistently topped our list of requested amenities, so we are thrilled to bring this project to fruition,” said Jason Schaitz, director of DeBary Parks and Recreation. “We look forward to welcoming our two-legged and four-legged residents to the new park.”

Construction on the dog park began in February, the city said. It was partly funded by Volusia County’s ECHO (Environmental, Cultural, Historic and Outdoor) grant program, which was approved for the park in April 2023. Fifty percent of the project cost was covered by ECHO monies, with the rest paid for out of the city’s 2023 budget, the release states.
