3 teens, man arrested after Volusia County drive-by shooting

Guns, ammo found inside truck during traffic stop, deputies say

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – Three teen boys and an 18-year-old man were arrested after shooting multiple times into a Volusia County home during a drive-by, according to the sheriff’s office.

Zared Castaneda, 18; Jesus Castaneda,15; Angel Ruiz-Rios, 15; and Brian Hernandez,16, were all arrested Sunday.

Investigators said an occupied home along Shaw Lake Road was shot several times from a red Toyota Tacoma around 11:52 p.m. No one inside the house was hurt.

Dispatchers were able to get a tag number from the person who called 911, according to a news release.

Deputies responding to the scene spotted the Tacoma and pulled it over, detaining the four inside, the sheriff’s office said.

Investigators said they found two handguns, boxes of ammunition, additional magazines and plastic bags with spent shell casings inside the truck.

The three teens and the man all face charges of firing into an occupied dwelling, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, discharging a firearm from a vehicle and firing a weapon in public or on residential property.

Castaneda also faces three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
