Two men booked into Brevard County Jail on charges

MIMS, Fla. – Two Brevard County men are facing charges after a road rage shooting in Mims.

According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the shooting in Mims around 6:45 p.m. Saturday.

A couple reported they were traveling east on State Road 46 in their GMC Yukon XL when a black Dodge pickup started tailgating them. The truck “ultimately passed them, forced them halfway off the road, cut them off, and came to a stop in front of them.”

Two men got out of the truck and fired several shots at the victim’s vehicle. Deputies said the couple had three children in the vehicle at the time of the shooting — ages 6, 4, and 18 months in the back seat.

No one was hurt and an independent witness was able to confirm details of the shooting. Deputies counted nine bullet holes in the SUV. The front passenger window was also shattered. A social media post by the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office shows the vehicle sprayed with bullet holes.

After firing several shots, the suspects got back in their pickup and left the scene. The victims called 911 and then followed at a distance. Brevard County Sheriff’s Office deputies then located the suspects and conducted a felony traffic stop.

Deputies arrested the driver, 45-year-old Chad Morrow of Cocoa, and the 52-year-old passenger Chad McAninch of Port St. John.

Both men were booked into the Brevard County Jail and are charged with two counts of attempted murder and three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Morrow and McAninch are being held on no bond.

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
