Volusia County deputies had already been notified by the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office that Strawter was headed into their jurisdiction, according to the statement. While searching the area off Howland Boulevard with at least one K-9 unit and help from Seminole’s Alert One helicopter, the helicopter crew reported that Strawter had ran into the backyard of a home in the 2500 block, the statement reads.

The residents of the home were uncooperative and left the scene as deputies remained, protected in part by Volusia’s SWAT BearCat armored vehicle, according to the statement.

Body-worn camera video shared Saturday morning shows Volusia deputies calling out for Strawter, who emerges after several hours, follows commands and is placed in handcuffs without further incident.

A search of the vehicle that Strawter was driving turned up about 31 grams of cocaine and a Glock that had been reported stolen out of Seminole County, according to the statement.

Strawter faces charges of fleeing to elude law enforcement with disregard for the safety of persons and property, driving with a canceled, suspended or revoked license, reckless driving, trafficking cocaine/mixture from 28 grams to 150 kilograms, grand theft of a firearm, two counts of possession of a weapon by an in-state felon and three out of county charges, two of which stem from Seminole County violation of probation warrants — reportedly regarding driving with a suspended license and tampering with an electronic monitoring device — while the other is a fugitive from justice charge out of Georgia, what investigators said is related to violation of probation regarding aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was being held on no bond at the Volusia County Branch Jail at the time of this report, according to the sheriff’s office.

Additional charges against Strawter are pending from out of Seminole County, according to the statement.
