Shooting happened on Houston Drive

DELTONA, Fla. โ€“ The ex-boyfriend of one of two people injured in a Deltona shooting has been arrested, according to the Volusia Sheriffโ€™s Office.

Two people were injured in a shooting Monday morning in Deltona.

According to Volusia County deputies, the shooting happened just after 3 a.m. on Aug. 19 at a home on the 1600 block of Houston Drive.

In an update on Aug. 26, the sheriffโ€™s office said Malik J. Mackenzie, 29, who is the ex-boyfriend of one of the victims, was arrested near Detroit after detectives identified him as the masked shooter in surveillance video from the neighborhood that captured him and his vehicle.

โ€œDetectives tracked down that vehicle, a van in Deltona, and learned its tag was stolen on July 26. Detectives then tracked down surveillance video that captured the suspect stealing the tag,โ€ a release said.

Deputies said the victims were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

He faces charges of attempted first-degree murder and armed burglary.
