ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – A Volusia County judge has issued an arrest warrant for a solar power salesman accused of defrauding an Ormond Beach couple out of tens of thousands of dollars.
Earlier this year, the victims contacted Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood to report a case of fraud and grand theft.

After contracting with a solar power company to install a system at their home, they claim Steven Scott, 36, collected a payment of $37,044 and failed to turn the money over to his employer, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies said Scott lied about collecting the money, then quit and hasn’t been heard from since.
A judge signed a warrant for his arrest on one count of organized scheme to defraud and one count of grand theft, carrying a $40,000 bond with nationwide pickup.
According to the sheriff’s office, Scott’s last known address is in Orlando, but the current resident said Scott no longer lives there.
