Meanwhile, the old parks and recreation building that sits next to Riverwalk Park will be transformed into a Beach Bros coffee shop, which will open sometime in spring.

This Daytona Beach based brand currently has one shop inside the Streamline Hotel, per its website.

“This new food truck court, drinks, and coffee shop are just the beginning of exciting things happening in Riverwalk,” city officials said in a prepared statement.

Plans for the construction of this entertainment area were announced in July 2024. The then-mayor of the city, Don Burnette told News 6 he was building this as part of a ‘back-up plan.’ It was initially going to be a huge Riverwalk complex – but this plan has been delayed, he said.

All in all, the mayor compared this hot spot opening soon to Boxi Park in Lake Nona.

“We’ve already got Riverwalk Park, if we can expand the uses down here in more ways that people can come down here and enjoy the waterfront,” Burnette told News 6 previously.
