Aldemar Moreno (Edgewater Police Department)

EDGEWATER, Fla. – A 21-year-old man is accused of posing as a boy on social media in Edgewater and assaulting two teens after meeting up with them, according to the police department.

Aldemar Moreno was arrested after an investigation in October revealed the assaults on two 14-year-olds, the Edgewater Police Department said. He is currently being held in the St. Johns County jail.

The police department said Moreno used social media to pretend to be a young boy and "groomed the victims, and later assaulted them after meeting them in person."

More victims have been identified and there may be others, the department said.

He faces multiple charges, including lewd and lascivious battery on a victim under 16 and traveling to meet a minor.

Anyone with information or who has been a victimized by Moreno is asked to call the department and speak with Det. Stephen Matthews at 386-410-3601.
