OCALA, Fla. – Ocala Fire Rescue responded to two burning homes in the same morning Wednesday, reporting one was saved while the other was lost.
The first fire was reported just before 3 a.m. out of SE First Avenue, where crews arrived to find a burning shed in the 2500 block, with flames spreading to an adjacent mobile home, the fire department said in a news release.
Once that fire had been taken care of, crews were notified around four hours later of another structure fire, this time in the 700 block of SW 5th Street. Crews reported heavy flames coming from the roof of a single-story home, taking care to act in awareness of a propane tank and a downed power line on the property.
The second fire was deemed under control by 7:23 a.m., less than half an hour after crews were dispatched to it.
No injuries were reported at either scene, firefighter said, adding the residents of the first fire evacuated before units’ arrival while the second residence was unoccupied.
