BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A musical based on the days after the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks is coming to two Central Florida theatres.
“Come From Away” tells the true story of 7,000 stranded passengers and the small town in Newfoundland, Canada that welcomed them.

On Sept. 11, the U.S. Federal Aviation Authority shut down airspace, forcing more than 4,000 planes to land at the nearest airport. Inbound flights from Europe were diverted to Canada.
It wasn’t until Sept. 13 that planes were beginning to be cleared for take off again.
For the stranded passengers in Newfoundland, there was a lot of cultures clashing and nerves running high, but that all turned into trust, music, gratitude, and enduring friendships.
On Sept. 16, the remaining passengers were able to fly back home.
The smash hit musical has won many awards, including a Tony for “Best Direction of a Musical.”
The show will be at Melbourne’s King Center on Feb. 21 and then at Peabody Auditorium in Daytona Beach on Feb. 24.
