Joann Fabrics will close 500 of its 800 stores, including these Central Florida stores

ORLANDO, Fla. – Joann Fabrics will close almost all of its Central Florida stores as it grapples with bankruptcy for the second time in less than a year.

The fabric and craft retailer will close 500 of its 800 U.S. stores in the coming months, with locations in every state.

Documents filed Wednesday in federal bankruptcy court show about three dozen Joann Fabrics stores will close in Florida, including the following Central Florida stores:

  • Altamonte Springs: 924 W State Road 436 Ste 1450, 32714
  • Daytona Beach: 2400 W International Speedway Blvd., 32114
  • Kissimmee: 4801 W Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy., 34746
  • Lady Lake: 540 N US Hwy. 441, 32159
  • Lakeland: 4241 US Hwy. 98 N, 33809
  • Ocala: 2405 SW 27th Ave., 34471
  • Orlando: 3562 E Colonial Drive, 32803
  • Orlando: 825 N Alafaya Trail, 32828
  • Sanford: 120 N Entrance Road, 32771
  • Winter Garden: 3379 Daniels Road, 34787

Only the stores in Tavares, West Melbourne and Winter Haven would remain.

According to CNN, the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in March of 2024, but became a private company and was able to keep all of its stores open.

Joann blames unexpected inventory issues involving critical products for the new financial troubles.

The company itself is also being put up for sale.
