VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – Volusia County deputies are asking for the public’s help identifying a man who stole a woman’s wallet while she shopped at a Publix, then later used her credit cards.

Deputies said the incident happened at the grocery store in the Halifax Plantation Village in Ormond Beach, but didn’t say what day or time the crime happened.

According to a news release, a man shown in photos wearing a baseball cap and facemask pretended he was shopping in the store, “but really he was stalking a senior citizen while she shopped.”

Deputies said the woman’s purse was in the upper basket of her shopping cart, and when she turned away, the man stole her wallet.

The suspect is then accused of using the woman’s credit cards in Flagler County, according to the release.

Deputies said the man was driving a white, full-sized SUV, possibly a Hyundai Palisade.
