DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A middle school student taken into custody on Friday by Daytona Beach police is accused of bringing a BB gun to campus.
“All available resources” responded around 11:30 a.m. to Campbell Middle School after a school resource officer got word that a student potentially had a firearm in the cafeteria, the Daytona Beach Police Department said on social media.
The item turned out to be a BB gun which police soon recovered, the post states.
No injuries were reported and there was no current threat to students, staff, or the public, police said.
Parents were asked to remain outside of the school’s immediate area to allow officers to work efficiently. The view from Sky 6 showed multiple officers posted at an access point to the school.
