DELTONA, Fla. – Dozens of counterfeit Xanax pills have been recovered from the Deltona home of an overdose victim who was found dead on Monday, according to Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood.

The counterfeit pills tested positive for fentanyl, Chitwood said on social media, adding the victim’s official cause of death is pending word from the medical examiner.

The sheriff’s office’s Overdose Task Force was still investigating the case as of Wednesday afternoon, as the timing of the post suggests.
