PALM COAST, Fla. – The Federal Aviation Administration appears no closer to discovering the origin of an ice chunk that pierced the roof of a Palm Coast home last month.
It happened on Feb. 3 to a home along Seattle Trail with a metal roof, drawing the attention of Palm Coast police and the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office but ultimately leading to no injuries.
Thinking the ice could have come from an aircraft, the Palm Coast Fire Department then reached out to the FAA, which confirmed it was investigating.

In an update shared Wednesday however, the FAA said it had contacted airlines whose aircraft were operating in the area when the incident occurred.

Inspections of those aircraft “did not find evidence of water leaks that could have caused ice to form on the outside of the aircraft,” the FAA said in a statement.
News 6 is attempting to follow up with the FAA and get more questions answered, such as if the ice could have come from a smaller and/or non-commercial aircraft using the nearby Flagler Executive Airport.
