FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bill Friday in Bunnell aimed at providing care for retired law enforcement dogs.
“We also got to think of these guys here on all four legs because they do a lot,” DeSantis said. “These K-9s are instrumental in helping to keep our community safe.”

The governor was joined by Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly and St. Johns County Sheriff Robert A. Hardwick for the bill signing at the Kim C. Hammond Justice Center.

DeSantis signed CS/SB 226, also called the “Care for Retired Police Dogs Program Act.” The law creates a program to disperse funds to retired law enforcement dogs to pay for their veterinary care.
