Sonic Prep Player of the Week: Christian Hudson

Hudson plays football at Mainland High School

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – In Daytona Beach resides one of the most dominant players in Volusia County: defensive lineman Christian Hudson.

The big man is an anchor on the defense for the Mainland Buccaneers, putting constant pressure on opposing quarterbacks. Hudson helped Mainland win the state title a season ago.

Next year, you can catch Hudson playing college football on Saturdays right here in Orlando. After weighing offers from the likes of Iowa and Louisville, Hudson chose to stay close to home and chose UCF.

“It really just came down to my relationship with Coach [Kenny] Martin, [UCF defensive tackles coach] and Head Coach [Gus] Malzahn,” Hudson said. “They built a great relationship with me. They just made me feel at home, and that’s where I knew I could play.”

Hudson told News 6 he can’t wait to play at the Bounce House.

“It feels great...Big boy football. New conference, nothing new. I feel like UCF is still going to dominate and do what they do best.”
