Disney World moves ahead with phased reopening after Nicole

ORLANDO, Fla.As Tropical Storm Nicole continues to move through Central Florida, Walt Disney World announced it would begin phased reopenings of its parks.

Walt Disney World Resort theme parks closed on Wednesday ahead of the storm. Disney posted an update at 11 a.m. on Thursday, saying “Cast Member crews have safely assessed the impact of the tropical storm this morning, which has left minimal debris in the area and caused no power outages on Walt Disney World Resort property.”

Disney planned a phased reopening of its parks starting at 12 p.m. on Thursday:

  • Magic Kingdom: 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., with plans to proceed with Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at 7 p.m. as scheduled
  • Epcot: 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Disney’s Animal Kingdom: 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Disney’s Hollywood Studios: 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. (Fantasmic! will not be presented on Thursday)

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park and Disney’s miniature golf courses will stay closed Thursday.

Nicole made its Florida landfall as a Category 1 hurricane just south of Vero Beach.
