Driver, passenger injured in DeLand motorcycle crash

Crash happened on East International Speedway Boulevard

DELAND, Fla. – A crash between a motorcycle and a pickup truck in DeLand sent two people to the hospital Sunday evening, according to police.

Officers said around 9:10 p.m. a Dodge Ram was leaving the RaceTrac gas station at 1296 East International Speedway Blvd. to travel east on East International Speedway Boulevard.

According to a news release from DeLand police, as the pickup was entering the roadway, a Harley Davidson motorcycle was also traveling east in the outside lane of the same road.

The driver of the motorcycle did not have enough time to stop and slammed into the back of the pickup, police said.

The driver and passenger on the motorcycle were injured and taken to a hospital, although the extent of their injures were not released.

The driver of the pickup was not injured, police said.

The crash remains under investigation.
