DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A train struck and killed a pedestrian last week in Daytona Beach, according to a police incident report obtained by News 6 on Wednesday.
The fatal crash happened Thursday near 500 Mason Avenue.

Daytona Beach police said a Florida East Coast Railroad train, 103 cars long and traveling from Miami, was going about 45 mph when a worker spotted a male pedestrian attempting to cross the tracks.
The train’s horn was sounded but the pedestrian did not look up or respond and he was struck by the train, police said.
The train came to a stop and the man’s body was located nearby, police said.
As a result of the crash, eastbound and westbound lanes were closed at the following locations:
- Mason Avenue
- Madison Avenue
- North Street
- George W Engram Boulevard
- Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Boulevard
