1 killed, 4 injured in 3-vehicle crash in Bunnell

Crash happened on SR-100 and Deen Road

BUNNELL, Fla. – A three-vehicle crash in Bunnell killed one person, injured four others and prompted a road closure, according to police and Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers were dispatched around 10:43 a.m. to West State Road 100 near Deen Road, what the police department described as near Bimini Bar.

According to a crash report, a pickup truck with four occupants was diving west on State Road 100.

At the same time, a sedan and an SUV was traveling east on State Road 100, with the sedan in front of the SUV.

Troopers said the sedan crossed the center line of the two-lane road and sideswiped the pickup truck. The truck lost control and crossed the center line and into the path of the SUV, resulting in a head-on crash between the two vehicles.

The pickup truck then overturned and came to rest in an upright position in the road according tot he FHP. The SUV came to rest in a ditch and the sedan came to a controlled stop.

According to the report, a passenger in the truck – identified as a 24-year-old Bunnell woman – suffered fatal injuries. The driver of the truck, identified as a 49-year-old Bunnell woman, was seriously injured. Two other passengers suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the SUV, identified as a 22-year-old Altamonte Springs woman, was also seriously injured.

The driver and passenger of the sedan were not injured, troopers said.

West State Road 100 was closed during the investigation, but has since reopened, Bunnell police said.
