BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A brush fire created traffic headaches Monday for motorists on Interstate 95 in Brevard County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, lanes of I-95, both northbound and southbound, were closed near mile marker 171 in the Malabar area.

FHP officials said the fire was reported around 12:20 p.m.
All southbound lanes reopened at 1:54 p.m., and all northbound lanes were up and running at 1:42 p.m., troopers said.
The FHP warned that smoke in the area could cause issues at any time.
Fire crews in Palm Bay battled two separate brush fires over the weekend as dry and breezy conditions linger in Central Florida.

The first was a 35-40 acre fire that started in the Space Force Malabar Annex on Saturday that caused the temporary evacuation of nearby homes.
On Sunday, a 20-30 acre brush fire was reported near several structures in the area of the 6100 block of Babcock St. SE.
