DELTONA, Fla. – A single-vehicle crash early Saturday in Deltona killed a woman and left two others hurt, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded along with the Deltona Fire Department to the 2600 block of Howland Boulevard shortly after 2 a.m., where a 2018 Nissan Sentra had crashed into a concrete power pole on its front passenger side, the sheriff’s office said in a statement.

The front passenger of the Nissan — a 33-year-old Deltona woman — was removed from the vehicle so that first responders could render aid, but was pronounced dead at 2:24 a.m., the statement reads.

The driver and rear passenger of the car — an 18-year-old DeLand woman and an 18-year-old Deltona woman, respectively — were hospitalized for treatment of minor injuries, the sheriff’s office said.

A crash investigation is said to be ongoing.
