VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – A DeLand motorcyclist was killed in a three-vehicle crash in Volusia County on Saturday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash happened in the area of State Road 40 and Conifer Lane around 3:44 p.m.

According to a crash report, a Yamaha Road Star motorcycle was traveling west on State Road 40, approaching Conifer Lane.

At the same time, a Nissan Altima was stopped in the westbound lanes of State Road 50 at the intersection of Conifer Lane, waiting to make a left turn.
A third vehicle, a GMC Terrain, was traveling west on State Road 40, approaching Conifer Lane.
Troopers said the motorcyclist failed to stop for the Altima ahead and struck the rear of the sedan.
As a result of the collision, the motorcycle driver was thrown off of the bike.
According to the report, the GMC Terrain swerved to the left to avoid the motorcycle, but ultimately struck the motorcyclist and the bike.
The truck continued off of the road and came to a final rest into a ditch, according to the FHP.
The motorcyclist, identified as a 25-year-old DeLand man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The drivers of the Altima and Terrain were not injured and remained at the scene.
Troopers said the crash remains under investigation.
