Woman, 27, killed in hit-and-run crash in Volusia County; FHP seeking info

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol is asking the public for information after a hit-and-run crash that killed a 27-year-old woman early Saturday in Volusia County.

The crash occurred around 1 a.m. on W International Speedway Boulevard, west of Tomoka Farms Road, in the inside lane, troopers said.

According to an FHP crash report, the woman was walking from north to south and entered the direct path of an unknown vehicle traveling westbound.

The vehicle then struck the woman as a result and was driven away from the scene westbound on W International Speedway Boulevard, the report states.

The woman, described as being from Daytona, was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said. A description of the suspect vehicle or its driver was not immediately available.
