VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – An man was killed and his passenger was hurt in a rollover crash Thursday night near Pierson, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 9:13 p.m. at Murphy and Chameleon roads, troopers said.
According to an FHP crash report, a 2004 Toyota Tacoma carrying two occupants — an 18-year-old man driving and a 19-year-old man riding as a passenger, both of Pierson — was traveling north on Murphy Road, south of Chameleon Road, when the driver lost control and the truck overturned.
The driver was ejected from the pickup and was pronounced dead at the scene while the passenger suffered minor injuries, the report states.
