VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – A crash involving two semitrucks and a pickup truck Tuesday morning shut down northbound lanes of Interstate 95 in Volusia County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The wreck happened around 1:10 a.m. near mile marker 277, in the area of Old Dixie Highway in Ormond Beach.

According to the FHP, a semitruck traveling north went off the roadway and struck three light poles, overturning in the northbound lanes.

A 2022 RAM 3500 stopped on the inside shoulder to help the driver after the crash, troopers said. Another semitruck heading north did not stop for overturned semi and crashed into it and the pickup, according to a crash report.

The three drivers were uninjured.

Drivers were redirected off the interstate onto US-1, exit 273, but lanes later reopened. Traffic cameras in the area showed traffic backed up for miles.

The area is under a dense fog advisory, which indicates visibility dropping to as low as a quarter mile or less.

If you’re driving in the fog, make sure to slow down, use low beam headlights, and keep plenty of distance between you and other cars.

An investigation is ongoing.
