Worker in bucket falls onto Port Orange road when car crashes into boom truck, police say

Wreck happened on Nova Road near Madeline Avenue

PORT ORANGE, Fla. – A utility worker fell from the bucket of a boom truck Friday morning in Port Orange when a vehicle crashed into it, according to the police department.

The wreck happened around 8 a.m. on Nova Road near Madeline Avenue.

According to the police department, the utility worker fell from the bucket and landed in the roadway. The worker was taken to the Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach with serious injuries.

The driver of the vehicle was uninjured.

Southbound lanes of Nova Road were shut down south of Madeline Avenue but later reopened.

An investigation is ongoing.
