All lined up! Planets putting on a show this month in the morning sky

Look southeast before sunrise

Morning sky

ORLANDO, Fla. – If you have been up early over the past couple of weeks, you may have noticed four bright objects in the southeast sky: Jupiter, Venus, Mars and Saturn, respectively, will be lined up prior to sunrise.

Later in the month, two of those planets will get very close, from our perspective, forming a conjunction. Jupiter and Venus will appear to nearly merge.

Look for this show about an hour before sunrise in the eastern sky on the mornings of April 30 and May 1.

Venus, Jupiter Conjunction

In May, things arguably get even better with a total lunar eclipse.

The last total lunar eclipse in Central Florida was January 2019.
