Waves of tropical moisture to dump BIG rain on Central Florida

ORLANDO, Fla. – A severe thunderstorm warning was issued Friday morning for Orange and Osceola counties as tropical moisture pours into Central Florida.

The warning expired at 9:30 a.m.

Storms with 60 mph wind gusts moved toward Orlando, Kissimmee, Ocoee, Winter Garden and St. Cloud.

Orlando International Airport tweeted that the storms could cause flight and baggage delays.

“Please check with your airline directly for any updates in regards to their operations at this time,” OIA tweeted.

It’s called “tropical moisture” because the rain is coming from the tropics, near Cuba, not because it will gain any tropical characteristics.

Expect high temperatures in the upper 80s on Saturday and low 90s for Sunday into next week.

Rain chances dip to 40% on Sunday and Monday.
