TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis suspended tolls on toll roads in the Tampa Bay area as Hurricane Ian moves up to the Florida coast, and as evacuation orders grow along the coast.

DeSantis held an update Monday morning with Florida Division of Emergency Management Director Kevin Guthrie and Major General James O. Eifert, who’s responsible for the training and operations of the Florida National Guard.
Hillsborough and Manatee counties have already ordered a mandatory evacuation for Zone A residents (largely people along the coastline) and recommended evacuations for Zone B.
Pinellas County has issued a mandatory evacuation order for Zone A residents starting at 6 p.m. today, and mandatory evacuation orders for Zones B and C residents for Tuesday at 7 a.m. You can find what evacuation zone you live in on the Florida Emergency Management website.
The governor also announced that commercial weight limits were suspended for trucks to expedite bringing in necessary supplies.
DeSantis reminded Floridians that the size of Ian means even if the eye of the storm makes landfall far away, large parts of the state will still feel Ian’s effects, and everyone should make sure they are prepared for the storm.
DeSantis says supplies are pouring into the state, and Floridians need to not panic buy.
