ORLANDO, Fla. – Tropical Storm Nicole is expected to become a hurricane and is projected to pass over Central Florida this week.
Impacts from Nicole are expected to ramp up, bringing rain to Central Florida through the day on Wednesday and Thursday and eventually late Friday. It will then push to the north toward the Carolinas.

Computer models have shifted a little bit farther to the north and so had the cone. This puts landfall possibly in southern Brevard County late Wednesday into early Thursday.
As of 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Nicole was 150 miles east-northeast of the Great Abaco Island with sustained winds at 70 mph. It is moving west-southwest at 10 mph.
The center of Nicole will approach the northwestern Bahamas Tuesday night, move near or over those islands on Wednesday, and approach the east coast of Florida on Wednesday night or early Thursday.

Nicole’s center is then expected to move across central and northern Florida into southern Georgia on Thursday and Thursday night.
According to forecasters, Nicole is expected to become a hurricane on Wednesday when it is near the northwestern Bahamas, and remain a hurricane when it approaches the east coast of Florida.
We can expect gusty winds, as well as the chance for issues at the beaches. Beach erosion, rip currents, and high seas will be an issue Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and possibly through the weekend.
As of Tuesday night, a tropical storm warning was in effect for Flagler, Marion, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Sumter and Volusia Counties. Likewise, a hurricane warning was in effect for coastal Volusia County.
A hurricane warning means that the area can expect hurricane conditions within 36 hours.
For Election Day, expect rain chances at 40%.
