ORLANDO, Fla. – Overnight, the predominant feature will be the cold temperatures, as dry air and clear skies give us a drop in temperatures to the lower to mid-40s across much of the area.
North and west of Interstate 4, as well as along the immediate southern Treasure Coast, temperatures may dip into the upper 30s and hover near 50 degrees, respectively.
Sheltered areas, particularly across Lake and Volusia Counties, may experience some patchy frost. For Marion and Flagler counties, we have a frost advisory in effect from 3-9 a.m.
Westerly winds, generally light at under 10 mph, will persist through Sunday. Loads of sunshine will push the afternoon temperatures to the mid-60s. Highs will still be about 7 degrees below normal.
Chilly and dry conditions will persist from Sunday night into New Year’s Day thanks to high pressure dominating the area and keeping rain chances at bay.
Light winds and mostly clear skies will prevail, facilitating rapid cooling through the evening, with temperatures dropping into the 50s and then the upper 40s to low 50s around midnight.
Overnight lows on New Year’s Eve will reach the low to mid-40s. Temperatures will gradually rise on New Year’s Day under mostly sunny skies, reaching highs in the upper 60s to low 70s, still slightly cooler than the seasonal norm.
A weak cold front is expected to approach late in the day, moving through Monday night, bringing increased cloud cover. While dry conditions continue, a few showers may be possible, mainly over offshore coastal waters as the front passes southward.
