Rainy weekend could bring severe storms into Central Florida

Showers set to begin on Saturday morning

We had an amazing weather day in Central Florida on Friday.

The sunshine went all day, and the temperature jumped to 74 degrees at Orlando International Airport.

On Friday night, we have a windy overnight. Winds will gust up to 20 mph, and we stay mostly cloudy.

For Saturday, the low in the Gulf will lift into North Georgia and swing a cold front our way.

The pre-frontal showers will move into Marion County early Saturday morning. Look for those showers to begin before 8 a.m.

The line of showers will march quickly across the heart of Central Florida and be off the east coast, south of Melbourne before 1 p.m.

As the showers move through, our main threats will be wind gusts of up to 50 mph, isolated severe storms, small hail, and we can NOT rule out a short tornado or two.

For now, we are NOT under any watches, and we are not listed as marginal for severe storms.

If that changes, we will be the first to let you know.
