ORLANDO, Fla. – The start of the new week will be quite active across the Deep South.
A developing weather system is expected to strengthen as it sweeps across the Central Plains pushing a cold front through Central Florida on Tuesday.
The Storm Prediction Central has highlighted Central Florida under a “Slight Risk” for strong-to-severe thunderstorms to develop.

Possible storm hazards include heavy rain leading to localized flooding, strong damaging winds, frequent lightning, small hail and a few tornadoes.
The weather is expected to be milder and humid on Tuesday with daytime highs reaching the lower 80s. This type of setup usually results in better components for severe weather to occur.
The timing of the stronger storms looks to be between the afternoon lasting into the evening hours with the potential for a few rotating thunderstorms.
When that front exits the area early Wednesday, it’ll be a cold start to the morning. Many cities will be waking up to 40s and 50s, but things begin to settle down with the sunshine returning and it staying windy all day.
It’ll be a cooler than normal day with afternoon highs in the 60s.
Rain chances return at the end of the week as another front arrives, but not as strong. It’ll keep the weather unsettled as we head into the upcoming weekend.
