ORLANDO, Fla. – Due to the size of Helene, the storm’s bands are hitting Central Florida with tropical downpours and gusty winds.
A couple of tornado warnings were issued Thursday morning for Brevard and Volusia counties but later expired.
All of Central Florida is under a tornado watch through 6 a.m. Friday.
A tornado watch means conditions are favorable for development of tornadoes.

Helene grew into a major Category 4 hurricane, making landfall in the Big Bend area of Florida.

Rather than sustained tropical storm conditions, there will be periods of nasty weather as outer bands lash out.
